Congratulations to the staff of the newspaper "Republic of Abkhazia", veterans of the editorial office and all those who have been creating and continuing to create this publication over the years, on the 35th anniversary of the newspaper!

Thirty five years is not just a date for a newspaper. This is a whole epoch inextricably linked with the modern history of Abkhazia. "The Republic of Abkhazia" was published in 1991, during one of the most important and fateful periods for our country. From the first days of its existence, the newspaper was not just a source of information — it became a part of the public and political life of the republic, reflected the events taking place in the country, told about the people and events that determined the fate of Abkhazia.

A special place in the history of the newspaper, established by the decision of the national leader Vladislav Ardzinba, is occupied by the people who stood at its origins. Vitaly Zievich Chamagua became the first editor-in-chief of the "Republic of Abkhazia". Together with him, the front pages of the newspaper were created by journalists, editors and editorial staff. Among them were those who continued their professional work as war correspondents during the Patriotic War of the people of Abkhazia. 

Over the past 35 years, times, generations of journalists, technologies and ways of transmitting information have changed. But the main thing remained unchanged — the desire of the newspaper to be close to its country and its readers, to professionally talk about what is happening, to preserve the memory of important events and people.

Today, the "Republic of Abkhazia" continues its work, preserving the best traditions of Russian journalism and mastering new formats. I am sure that the rich experience and glorious history of the publication will become a reliable basis for its further development.
