I congratulate you on the Day of the Liberation of Sukhum!

33 years ago, thanks to the courage and heroism shown by the brave defenders of the Fatherland, our capital, our native, ancient and beautiful Sukhum, which had been under occupation for more than 13 months, was liberated.

This date holds a special place in the modern history of Abkhazia. From the first day of the Patriotic War of the people of Abkhazia, our soldiers and units of the Armed Forces, led by Vladislav Ardzinba, were firmly convinced that their hometown would be liberated. Despite the most difficult trials and unsuccessful attempts to liberate Sukhum, our defenders did not retreat and did not lose faith in Victory. With renewed vigor, they continued to fight, step by step bringing the long-awaited day of liberation closer.

Today, celebrating this significant date, we cannot but remember all the heroic defenders of the Fatherland who gave their lives for the freedom and independence of our Motherland. We bow our heads before their bright memory. Their feat will forever remain in the history of Abkhazia and in the hearts of our people.

Sukhum is developing and transforming today. Our common goal is to make the capital modern, well-maintained and comfortable for life, worthy of those people who defended it with weapons in their hands and gave their lives for it.

May peace, creation and prosperity strengthen in our country, and may Sukhum become more beautiful and stronger every year.

I wish all residents of Sukhum and the whole of Abkhazia good health, prosperity and peace.
