President Badra Gunba spoke at the IV International Inalipa Readings

The readings are dedicated to the 110th anniversary of the birth of the outstanding Abkhazian scholar, Doctor of Historical Sciences, historian, ethnographer, literary critic, and folklorist Shalva Denisovich Inal-ipa.

The President noted that Shalva Inal-ipa's scientific activity holds a special place in the history of Abkhazian science. The scientist dedicated his life to studying the historical path of the Abkhazian people, their culture, traditions, way of life, and spiritual heritage. Thanks to his many years of work, information about the life and identity of the people received scientific understanding and was preserved for future generations, and his works became part of the national heritage.

The Head of State emphasized that he had special feelings about what kind of person Shalva Denisovich was, what he cherished, and what values he passed on to his children. Shalva Inal-ipa and his wife, the renowned scholar Mira Konstantinovna Khotolashvili-Inal-ipa, demonstrated profound devotion to Abkhazia, its history, culture, and people throughout their lives, becoming an example of true patriotism. A vivid confirmation of this was the feat of their son Adgur Inal-ipa. Despite his youth, he was a talented scientist, engaged in research in the field of physics, and showed great promise, but in the hour of trial, he stood up in defense of Abkhazia and gave his life for the freedom of his Motherland. His step showed how love for one's native land, devotion to one's people, and responsibility for their future, instilled in the family, become a person's inner strength.

Badra Gunba noted that the example of Shalva Denisovich Inal-ipa's family still holds immense moral significance today, especially for the younger generation.

The President expressed his conviction that the preservation and development of Shalva Inal-ipa's scientific legacy should be one of the important tasks of the state and the scientific community, and emphasized the need to continue studying the scholar's works, ensure their preservation, and prepare new editions.

The participation of scientists and representatives of scientific institutions from the North Caucasian republics in the readings was noted separately, which testifies to the significance of Shalva Inal-ipa's legacy for the entire Caucasus and the study of the history and culture of fraternal peoples.

The Head of State expressed confidence that the readings will become an important contribution to the further study of Shalva Denisovich Inal-ipa's scientific heritage, will allow researchers from Abkhazia and other countries to unite their efforts, open new directions for scientific work, and attract young scientists to it.

In conclusion, Badra Gunba wished the participants fruitful work, meaningful discussions, and new scientific discoveries.
